Wellmune® is a type of yeast beta glucan that is found in our 7 Mushrooms Super Blend. Wellmune® yeast beta glucans are soluble fibres found in the cell walls of a specific baker’s yeast and are extracted using a proprietary process. The extraction process ensures the result is a highly purified product that is also gluten free.
In addition, Wellmune® has been clinically trialled and found to support a healthy immune system when ingested.1-3
By priming the immune cells to be ready for foreign challenges (virus, bacteria, etc.), Wellmune® can help enhance immune system function. Wellmune® is a commercially available β-glucan derived from the cell wall of a proprietary strain of yeast.
There is emerging evidence that β- glucans can “train” the body’s immune cells to react more quickly when a pathogen is detected.1
β _-glucans are taken up into the body through specialised immune tissue in the intestines. There, immune cells engulf β-glucans and degrade it into smaller fragments that bind to neutrophils, the most abundant immune cells in the body. Primed by β-glucans, neutrophils move more quickly to recognise and kill foreign challenges.1
